Common issues that Fairfax community is asking
There are multiple concerns that I see. As a security professional, I developed comprehensive security programs centered around a in-depth Threat Assessment and Risk Analysis identifying each location or persons Security Strengthens, Weaknesses, Threats then providing acceptable mitigations to the vulnerabilities that was discovered.
What FCPS needs to do is to have that assessment completed, which can be done with the current security staff which has over 100 years of experience if fields from the Secret Service to Law Enforcement. The reason this is not do is of great concern.
Day one when I am elected I will have have that detailed assessment completed and all upgrades completed within 6 months barring any push back from colleagues on the school board.
Being of Hispanic decent, this topic is close to my heart. Having an economy at an 8.5% inflation rate... adds to the family stress that parents have to put food on the table. Because the Hispanic culture is family centered, there is an obligation for kids to help out with the family which leaves no choice other then dropping out to work.
We have started through my company's non-profit a community food drive that will bring food to the needy by way of the churches.
Next I will work with the county to ensure that companies are paying fair wages to undocumented immigrants. I believe in fair wages for fair work.
Lastly, I will work in my district to develop mentorship programs with ordinary people in our community and pair them with "At Risk" kids.
Together we can significantly impact this rising drop out rate.
I will protect all parents' rights regardless the families are traditional or from the LGBTQ communities.
Each parent has a right to raise their child and government should not interfere unless there is something illegal happening. If so that should be reported to the authorities.
The idea that the schools are heavily involved in social development and teach values that are outside of the values and norms of the family is against what I defended in the military. Our county is a richly diverse community with many cultures that are very traditional. We need to respect all cultures and focus only on teaching the children what the parents entrust the schools to do (Math, Reading, Writing, Science, etc).
I feel there is a serious infringement of female rights and privacy nationwide. Females should not be subjected to something they don't want and/or feel uncomfortable with. Many have gave in because of the repercussions that they fear if they speak out such as being labeled homophobic.
I believe everyone should have equal rights and no one rights are above another. There are ways to make accommodations through collaboration and I will work with the LGBTQ community and traditional families to bridge that gap.
Most people do not realize the amount of their tax dollars that is going to the School Board. In Fairfax County 52% of the county tax dollars go directly to the School Board. that is over 3.5 billion dollars.
The current return on investment for the tax payers is lower test scores and social indoctrination that is going against family traditions.
We need to get back to "common sense" education and leave the social education of the children to their parents.
